Little Acorns - Nursery/ReceptionMrs Campbell and Mrs Dibb
Welcome to Nursery/Reception Class. This is the beginning of your child’s learning journey at St. Wilfrid’s RC Primary School.
During this very important year your child’s teachers will be Mrs. Campbell and Mrs. Dibb. Their teaching assistants are Mrs Green and Mrs Mowbray. We will work in partnership with you to care for and educate your child. We aim to offer new opportunities to your child to help draw out their ability and potential, helping each individual to grow and develop in preparation for the future.
The early years classroom is a large area with its own toilets and cloakroom. It is a happy, stimulating learning environment with many colourful, interactive displays that celebrate your child’s talents and achievements.
Our Catholic Faith is at the heart of everything we do in Nursery/Reception Class. Your child will learn that Jesus loves us all and that we are special. We all try hard to treat everyone that we meet with love and respect, just as Jesus did.
Your child will be learning new skills and knowledge and demonstrating understanding through seven areas of learning and development.
The three prime areas are:
- Communication and language;
- Physical development;
- Personal, social and emotional development.
Your child will develop skills in four specific areas. These are:
- Understanding the world;
- Expressive arts and design.
These seven areas are used to plan your child’s individual learning. We encourage your child to work through adult-directed tasks and self-chosen activities. The role play area, outside classroom, and a wide range of exciting, purposeful activities linked to the half termly topic, are used to encourage independence, enjoyment and learning through play.
Our Class Blog
The children, staff and parents all had a fantastic trip to Whitehouse Farm.
The nursery and reception children had lots of fun playing with the cardboard boxes from our new furniture.
We have been learning about people who help us . We were visited by police officers and fire fighters. It was very exciting when we visited the fire station.
Later this term we are having an Ugly Bug's Ball as part of our topic 'In the Garden'. The children have made invitations and are helping to organise the party. The children and staff are very excited and will be dressing up as their favourite mini beast - watch out...
We had great fun listening to a musical version of The Three Little Pigs. We joined in with the singing and played the instruments. Some of the children were chosen to be the little pigs.
We have great fun jumping in muddy puddles, searching for mini beasts and making mud pies with our friends.
