Oak - Year 1
Mrs SmithWelcome
Welcome to Year 1 where we are continuing our exciting learning journey and building upon all that we have learnt in Reception.
In Year 1 we know that ‘Jesus loves me’ and we always try to follow His example by living like Jesus wants us to live. We always try our hardest to follow our class rules by being kind, sharing, listening to others, always trying to do our very best, and keeping our classroom neat and tidy.
Every effort is made, especially in the first term, to provide a smooth transition from Reception class. At the start of the year much of our work is carried out through small group activities supported by an adult. We will gradually be progressing to becoming more independent to enable us to work through the Year 1 curriculum.
Our classroom is bright and colourful with lots of displays to support active learning, and to show others in school what we have been doing in Year 1. We also like to show off our best work in our classroom to celebrate our achievements.
In the morning, we usually have RE, Literacy, Phonics and Numeracy and in the afternoon we have Science or Topic, which includes Geography, History, Design and Technology, PE, ICT or Music. As you can see we work very hard.
Mrs Smith and Mrs Towers will be working with us to enable us to achieve success, and to reach our full potential.
